The Champs Elysées are also greatly appreciated for their cultural aspect, with the Palais de la Découverte which will make you appreciate science, but also with the Grand and Petit Palais, witnesses of the great era, and which house numerous exhibitions. The Petit Palais has been the residence of the French Presidents since 1873. Interesting in this area is the Madeleine, a Napoleonic structure on the classical temple model which was built for the emperor as yet another monument to the victory of his army.
