Below the Place, the Jardins du Trocadero extend their impressive
swaths of green to the Seine. The gardens offer a stunning picnic
spot, a ride on a two-storied carousel in Pl. de la Varsovie and,
at night, an incredible view of the Torre Eiffel. |
BOIS DE BOULOGNE
The 865 hectares Bois de Boulogne lies on the western edge of Paris
and was created under Napoléon III (second part of the 19th
century). Its designer, the Baron Haussman, was an admirer of the
large and central London parks (such as the beautiful Hyde Park
and Regent Park). He decided to create two similar parks in Paris.They
are respectively the Bois de Boulogne on the west side of Paris
and the Bois de Vincennes on the east. The Bois de Boulogne, the
most fashionable of the two, is bordered by the very residential
cities of Neuilly and Boulogne. The Bois de Boulogne is a favourite
destination of Parisian walkers, bicycle and horse riders. It also
houses the two Parisian horse courses (Auteuil and Longchamp) and
the pretty Bagatelle gardens. |
MUSEO DES MONUMENTS FRANÇAIS
This museum presents the most beautiful French buildings and monumental
sculptures from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century in the
form of moulds (6000) and life-size reproductions. |
MUSEO DE LA MARINE
The museum has an extensive collection of models, canons, and other
objects related to seafaring down through the ages, and in particular
relating to the French Navy. In particular, it has models from the
17th century (the earliest is by Colbert in 1678) down through the
present day. Among its prized possessions is a series of 13 images
of French ports by Vernet, as well as a barge commissioned for Napoléon.
The Musée De La Marine in Paris, is one of the oldest maritime
museums in the world.
The museum also keeps up to date with items from such people as
Jacques-Yves Cousteau and famous skippers engaged in the yacht
races. This is a complete maritime museum for all who are interested
in ships and the sea and well worth your effort to go and see
when you visit Paris. |
MAISON DE BALZAC
Balzac's house is the last of the Parisian residences of the writer
Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850) still standing. He occupied
it from 1840 to 1847 and in his office there, he corrected the whole
of the “Comédie Humaine” and wrote some of his
masterpieces. The museum displays personal souvenirs, paintings,
etchings and objects concerning those close to him and his contemporaries,
and a large number of original editions, manuscripts and illustrations.

PALAIS TOKIO AND MUSÉE D’ART MODERNE DE LA VILLE DE
PARIS
The Palais de Tokio was built for the 1937 World Expo and is home
to the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris which
has a world-class collection of 20th century art: some Modigliani
and Matisse’s masterpieces are here exposed such as the beautiful
Matisse’s “La Danse Inachevée” . The west
wing of the palace houses the warehouses-like site creation contemporaine
which shows exhibits of today’s hottest and most controversial
contemporary art. Some Modigliani and Matisse’s masterpieces
are here exposed.

MUSEO BACCARAT
Located in one of the last Parisian nineteenth century depots (storehouse) the Museum presents the works of art which founded the reputation of Baccarat, and for which he get high distinctions as gold medals or Grand Prix.
