The 4 star Hotel Clarion Saint James & Albany is built in the heart of Paris and enjoying the advantages of its exceptional location in the business district and at the center of cultural activity, the hotel offers 184 rooms – including 9 luxury executive rooms – and 11 sumptuous suites. Arranged around an enclosed garden and a series of interior courtyards, the rooms and suites offer high-quality comfort that combines refinement with contemporary design. Our leisure travel clientele will particularly appreciate the elegant Superior Rooms and Junior Suites with independent sitting rooms (up to 4 people). Located in a separate building, the "executive" rooms with private sitting rooms benefit from an unrestricted view of the Castle. They will seduce our business clients by their exceptional hospitality and personalized service. On 11 April 1774, Marquis de La Fayette married the youngest of the Duke of Noailles's five daughters in the residence. Hôtel de Noailles became his Paris home until 1784. Upon returning from America, La Fayette was visited by Queen Marie Antoinette on 15 February 1779, as reported on the plaque commemorating the event. During the restoration period, the building was returned to the Noailles family prior to being sold to the very rich and eccentric Lord Francis Henry Eggerton, Duke of Bridgewater. In 1828, Lord Eggerton's heirs sold the property to real estate speculators. Rue du 29 juillet was opened to give way to income producing property built in the hotel gardens. Before taking on the name by which it is known today, the hotel was called "Le Meurice". The establishment founded by Eugène-Michel Meurice was moved to number 228-230, Rue de Rivoli in order to expand the company in 1832. In 1853, the sole remaining section of the property became a hotel for travelers. From then onward, the hotel changed ownership and names several times before becoming, nearly a century later, Hôtel Saint-James & Albany on 14 November 1956. |
